Our Doctor Visit

Well, we are 34 weeks as of Monday. We went to the doctor today for an ultrasound and NST. The ultrasound tech said he seems to have a lot of hair! Also, he is in the head down position (at least for now!) We only have two pictures from the ultrasound which are hard to determine what it is you are looking at. Not to mention I don't have a scanner hooked up so I tried to get the picture the best I could...

The baby is running out of room as he is 6 lbs 2oz!!! He is now running 2 weeks ahead - the ultrasound tech measured 3 times to make sure! All is well with him and all test came back satisfactory. Starting this week, I have to go to the doctor twice a week for the NSTs. She went ahead and gave us a nice goodie bag that I would normally get at 37 weeks. We asked if he may come early and she said we could go anytime now or he could be a week late, we don't know. However, she did recommend that we pack our bag now...

Our First Hospital Trip...

Last night, we made our first trip to the hospital. I have started having terrible headaches within the past three weeks and I couldn't take anymore last night. I came home from work took my medication and went straight to sleep. Billy woke me up around 9:00 and I wasn't any better. When we took my blood pressure and saw how high it was, Billy decided it was time to call the doctor. After a long list of questions and symptoms the nurse told him to take me to the hospital. So off we go at 10:15pm! They checked me in and ran some tests. The outcome was Jackson is doing fine and they ended up giving me a shot for the headache and sent us home at 12:30am. The shot helped me sleep but I still woke up with the headache which finally went away today around lunch. Needless to say, Billy and I are both exhaused from our little adventure.

Billy's newest find...

Billy bought a used push mower this weekend. He got a really good deal on it and was so excited about it that he mowed the front yard when he got home just to try it out (not to mention that it was just mowed only a few days ago!).



Scout always chases Billy and barks at him when he mows the yard....and it was just the same for the push mower!

Our new roof

When we moved in 4.5 years ago, we knew the roof would not last very much longer. Billy has caulked and tacked loose shingles back down over the past few years. We had a little water damage to the roof sheathing but nothing serious. We have had a lot of wind storms lately and each time I would walk the yard and pick up the shingles that had blown down and pile them up. So finally we decided it was time for a new roof. The guys came Saturday and put it on in 5.5 hours. The weather was perfect for them. This was the first Saturday that it didn't rain in quite a while and it wasn't too hot either. Its hard to see the roof because it is not very steep.

I love this flower!

Two years ago, Billy bought me a tiger lilly. It has just started to bloom and it is beautiful. It has 10 more buds yet to bloom and I can't wait to see them! I am so glad the crazy weather did not kill it or it bloom too early and freeze.

Odds and ends....

Earlier this week I was having some bad headaches so I called the doctor and they pulled me in for my first NST. All results were fine. It was really neat to sit there and just listen to his heartbeat. It was so relaxing. I will soon start going in twice a week for NSTs for the last 6 weeks. However, after going home this weekend and talking with my Mom and Grandma, it may be sooner than expected. The baby may have dropped a little already. I guess we will find out more information when we go back to the doctor on the 20th.

Billy will go back to the doctor hopefully tomorrow to have his stitches removed and get his arm checked. It appears to be healing well and seems the doctor did a good job sewing it up. It will just be a nasty scar left behind.

With all the bad weather that we have had lately we have been lucky. We haven't had any damage and luckly all of our flooding issues were resolved long ago and we didn't have any water flooding in the house. The water did come within 3 feet of our patio door but Billy can resolve that easily I believe by putting some drain holes in the timbers. Our neighbor across the street did have some water get in his house but said it didn't damage much. It must be something with these 35 year old split level houses!

We have discovered lots of the little blue lizards around the house. Scout has taken chasing them. He turns over rocks, chases them up trees, and under bushes. Here he is waiting for them to come back out to play...

Baby update

Not much to update here. We hung a set of 3-D Winnie the Pooh plates above the changing table. We now have the curtains hung and the bedding in the crib. As you can see, the crib is full of Jackson's large stuffed animals until his arrival. Jackson got his first pair of booties...aren't they addorable??

Our Big Weekend

This weekend we kept our niece Kathryn. We picked her up on Saturday morning and as she requested went to Chuck E Cheese and McDonald's Playhouse. She played until she wore herself out. However, the 30-minute ride home helped her to get a second wind. So when we got to our house, we did all sorts of fun stuff. We played hide- and-go-seek in the house (she loves stairs I believe!), hop scotch, played with Scout in the back yard, threw sticks into the lake, found a frog, played in baby Jackson's hamper, watched a movie, played with Fuzzy and Daisy and her new bathtub that she got at Target....we were so busy I can't remember it all!! She was really good for us. I am sure her parent's had their hands full when they got her back since we missed nap time and didn't go to bed until 10:30!! Sorry guys! Then we got up at 7:30 Sunday morning! We played some more, had oatmeal for breakfast, got dressed and went to church. She is all worn out today and so are we!

Baby Showers!!

We had our baby showers two weeks ago. We are very blessed to have so many caring people in our lives. Baby things are so cute and soft! We received all kinds of cute outfits, bibs, blankets, and toys. We got a lot of the necessities as well - diapers, wipes, baby wash, towels and washcloths! We are having fun getting everything put up in the nursery.



This is the best of what pictures we have. Both of our dads took pictures at the showers so we need to get copies of those pictures as well.

What's new...

We had a good visit at to the doctor this week, still keeping a close eye on the BP. Billy also got to go to the doctor...he cut his arm at work using a utility knife. He will go back next week to have his stitches removed. It doesn't hurt anymore but has bruised. He has taken pictures of his arm but I won't post them as it might be offensive to some.

Billy has been doing some yard work the past few weeks. Since I am unable to really do much out there, he is on his own. He has the yard looking better than it was although it still needs a lot more work. We don't have much color in the yard but there are a few nice flowers...



Now that the weather is warming up, Billy is getting in the mood to ride. We have seen tons of bikes out this weekend and he is ready to get his out on the road...




We signed up for a 5 week Birth and Beginnings class and a 2 week Brestfeeding class. So far we have had 2 of the birthing classes. We haven't decided if we made the right choice or not. However, we are learning a lot (that is a lot more than I needed to know probably!) But in all seriousness, Billy is learning what his role is and how to help me and I am learning what is going to happen to me! Let's just see how much of it we remember when the time comes....
